For at least two reasons the treatment should start immediately after the birth. One, the foot is tender when the child is small and the treatment of manipulation and casting becomes easy. So the treatment should start if not immediately after the birth, at least any time before two to three months so that the foot is corrected and the child is ready to walk at the walking stage. The second reason for early treatment is to prevent any social stigma attached to the family and the child. Because of the growing misunderstanding about clubfoot, children are given nicknames and parents and family are excluded from community activities and festivals. To prevent this social stigma, children must get the feet corrected as early as possible.
