Strengthening the Network of Care: Narsipuram Unites Against Clubfoot Disability

In our mission to reach every child born with clubfoot, the success of our interventions is built upon the strength of our community partnerships. In Narsipuram village, Andhra Pradesh, that partnership was on full display as our District Programme Coordinator, Ms. K. Swapna, spearheaded a vital awareness outreach program designed to turn teachers and Anganwadi workers into proactive partners in child health.

Building a Village-Wide Safety Net

By engaging multiple touchpoints within the village, Ms. Swapna ensured that clubfoot awareness is integrated into the daily routines of those who interact with children most:

  • Educational Leadership: A visit to the Mandal Parishad Primary School, Narsipuram, facilitated by Headmistress Ms. Jyothi, highlighted how teachers can identify physical challenges in the classroom and guide parents toward help.
  • Frontline Support: Deep-dive interactions with Anganwadi Centres ensured that identification happens early—often before a child even enters school:
    • Centre-1: Led by Ms. Adilaxmi.
    • Centre-3: Led by Ms. Y. Sundaramma.
    • Centre-6: Led by Ms. B. Sujatha.

Through these sessions, the community was educated on the physical signs of clubfoot and, crucially, the reality that it is a treatable condition that can be corrected with early intervention through the Ponseti method.

CURE India: Scaling Impact with Credibility

As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India is recognized for our institutional transparency of fund usage and our commitment to scaling the largest clubfoot program in the world.

  • Our Mission: Our goal is to move from treating 33% to 70% of all children born with clubfoot in India by 2030 (#RunFree2030).
  • The Power of Local Teams: DPCs like Ms. K. Swapna are the backbone of this mission. Their tireless efforts ensure that even in remote villages like Narsipuram, families have access to the information and the Free Treatment they need to secure their child’s mobility.

Gratitude & Community Commitment

We extend our sincere thanks to the school leadership and the dedicated Anganwadi workers of Narsipuram. Your openness to collaboration is the catalyst that allows our program to function. When we unite school authorities, health workers, and community stakeholders, we create a barrier-free path for children.
