Strengthening the Frontline: Scaling Clubfoot Awareness Across Parbhani, Maharashtra
Building a Referral Safety Net: How Parbhani’s ASHA Workers and Educators are Becoming Guardians of Childhood Mobility.
In the mission to achieve the #RunFree2030 goal, the most vital link in the chain is the local health worker who first encounters a newborn. Recently, in Mahatpuri, Parbhani, our District Programme Coordinator, Ms. Lata Jadhav, spearheaded an intensive outreach series designed to equip these frontline heroes with the knowledge and referral pathways necessary to turn early identification into life-changing action.
An Integrated Approach to Community Health
By engaging a wide spectrum of the healthcare ecosystem, Ms. Jadhav ensured that every stakeholder in a child’s early development is synchronized with the CURE India mission. The outreach was structured to maximize impact across three key groups:
ASHA Workers’ Empowerment: A session with 20 ASHA workers, supported by Ms. Jyoti Swami (Supervisor, PHC Mahatpuri) and Dr. Ajama Khan (Medical Officer), focused on identifying the physical signs of clubfoot at birth.
Technical Clinical Support: A specialized meeting with ANMs, MPWs, and CHOs, supported by Mr. S.R. Nanvare (Health Assistant), ensuring that the clinical referral process is seamless.
Educational Integration: A meeting with 13 Anganwadi teachers, bridging the gap between community care and educational support, ensuring that even children missed at birth are identified as they grow.
CURE India: Institutional Credibility in Maharashtra
As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India is recognized not only for the largest clubfoot program in the world but for our deep commitment to institutional transparency of fund usage.
Our Mission: Through the dedication of DPCs like Ms. Lata Jadhav, we are scaling our national reach from 33% to 70% of all children born with clubfoot in India by 2030.
The Power of the Network: Every ASHA worker and Anganwadi teacher trained in Parbhani today is a potential bridge to a child who would otherwise face a lifetime of disability.
Our Promise: Every donation funds the casting supplies, FAB (Foot Abduction Braces), and clinical logistics required to sustain this massive grassroots network.
Gratitude & The Path Forward
We extend our sincere thanks to the healthcare teams and community leaders of Mahatpuri for their commitment. Your partnership is the reason why children in Maharashtra are transitioning from disability to independence.
