Capacity Building for a Clubfoot-Free Future: How Professional Excellence in the Gujarat Team is Driving the RunFree2030 Vision

When we talk about the largest clubfoot program in the world, we are not just talking about the thousands of plaster casts applied or the braces distributed. We are talking about the people—the dedicated coordinators, counselors, and program managers who make the healing process possible. This week, the energy at the CURE India National Office is palpable as we host our Gujarat team for a 3-day intensive staff training program.
As one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, CURE India (or simply CURE) understands that sustainable social impact is built on the foundation of a highly skilled workforce. By bringing our Gujarat team to the National Office, we are ensuring that the excellence found in our central strategy is translated into every clinic and home visit across the state of Gujarat.
Capacity building is not just a corporate buzzword for us; it is a clinical necessity. Correcting Clubfoot requires more than just medical knowledge—it requires a holistic support system for the families involved. The 3-day program was meticulously designed to strengthen the core pillars of our mission:
When our teams grow stronger, every child we serve receives better, more consistent care. This professional development is what allows CURE to maintain its credibility as a leader in the non-profit sector.
A significant portion of the training focused on the "maintenance phase" of treatment. While CURE India utilizes the Ponseti method—the globally recognized non-surgical gold standard for correction—the real challenge often lies in what happens after the casts come off.
The use of the FAB (Foot Abduction Brace) is critical to prevent a relapse. Our Gujarat team engaged in intensive sessions on how to better educate parents about the life-saving importance of brace compliance. By providing Free Treatment and free braces, we remove the financial barrier, but it is the skill of our counselors that removes the barrier of hesitation. This training ensures that the "outcome" for every child in Gujarat is a lifetime of mobility.
CURE India’s national presence is unmatched, having documented the most number of clubfoot children treated globally (over 118,000 success stories). However, our mission is driven by a sense of urgent responsibility.
Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. While this achievement has solidified our status as a Top 10 NGO in the country, it means that the majority of children are still waiting for help. Our RunFree2030 initiative is our roadmap to bridge this gap. Over the next 5 years, we are scaling up to 70% coverage across the nation.
To reach this 70% target, our regional teams—like the one from Gujarat—must be equipped with the most advanced strategies in program implementation. Every child identified early in a Gujarat village is a victory for the RunFree2030 mission.
To our donors, medical professionals, and the general public: your investment in CURE India goes beyond medical supplies. It funds the very expertise being cultivated at our National Office this week. We maintain a strict policy of transparency of fund usage, ensuring that every donation is utilized to create the highest possible impact.
When you support CURE, you are supporting:
We also ask people to volunteer their time and skills. Whether it is through advocacy, administrative support, or community mapping, your contribution helps our team reach further.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our Gujarat team. Your dedication, commitment, and relentless efforts are the reason why thousands of children who were once unable to walk are now running toward their dreams.
Together, through constant learning and collective action, we move closer to a future where no child lives with untreated clubfoot. Let’s make the vision of a mobile, confident, and inclusive India a reality.
