Advancing Pediatric Excellence: 65 Orthopaedic Experts Converge at IGIMS Patna to Master the Ponseti Method and Transform Child Mobility.

In the pursuit of a disability-free future for every child, the synergy between clinical expertise and collaborative training is paramount. On May 24th, 2026, the Department of Orthopaedics at IGIMS Patna became a hub of pediatric innovation. In a workshop organized by the Paediatric Orthopaedics Society, Bihar, and held under the aegis of the Bihar Orthopaedic Association, CURE India was honored to support and participate in a landmark event dedicated to the mastery of clubfoot management.
The workshop brought together 65 dedicated healthcare professionals and orthopaedic practitioners, signaling a robust, collective commitment to strengthening early intervention services for children throughout Bihar.
The highlight of the day was the participation and guidance of Dr. Mathew Varghese, Hon. Medical Director of CURE India. His decades of experience and clinical authority provided the participants with invaluable insights into the nuances of the Ponseti method.
As the global gold standard for clubfoot treatment, the Ponseti method’s efficacy relies on meticulous technique. By focusing on high-quality manual manipulations and serial plaster casting, practitioners can avoid invasive surgeries, ensuring that children develop flexible, functional, and pain-free feet. The workshop provided the necessary hands-on training to refine these skills, ensuring that every participant left with increased confidence in their clinical practice.
An event of this scale requires seamless organization and unwavering dedication. We extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated team members, Ms. Ranjana Ruth John (SPC) and Ms. Laxmi (DPC Bihar), whose logistical management ensured the smooth implementation of the day’s proceedings.
We are also profoundly grateful to the esteemed faculty members whose expertise defined the workshop's success:
Their expert sessions and insightful discussions provided the participants with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and solutions in modern clubfoot care.
As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India is recognized not only for its scale but for its relentless focus on clinical excellence. We currently operate the largest clubfoot program in the world, having documented the most number of clubfoot children treated in history. Our work in Bihar is a vital component of this national presence, supported by:
The success at IGIMS Patna is a clear indicator that when medical professionals are empowered with the right tools and training, the ripple effect is immense. Every practitioner who masters the Ponseti method through these workshops becomes a guardian of mobility for the thousands of children born with clubfoot in their region.
How You Can Help:
We thank every participant for their enthusiasm and their commitment to clinical excellence. Together, we are creating confident steps toward a future where no child is left behind by a treatable physical disability.
