Early Identification and Timely Treatment Can Help Transform a Child’s Future
Awareness and timely intervention can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life. With this vision, CURE India organized an awareness programme on clubfoot and other disabilities at Ilav Ashram School, Hansot Taluka, Bharuch District, Gujarat, bringing together community workers, students, government representatives, educators, and other stakeholders.
The programme focused on educating Anganwadi workers and schoolgirls about clubfoot, its early identification, the importance of timely treatment, and the treatment process. The session aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge so that children with clubfoot can be identified early and connected with appropriate care.
The programme was graced by the presence of Mr. Hemant Modi, Mr. Nagji Rajput, and Mr. Gaurav Sharma, partners from Saint-Gobain. Several local officials and community representatives also participated, including the Mamlatdar, TDO, THO, Sarpanch, Mahila Morcha member, CDPO of Hansot Taluka (ICDS Division), Supervisors, Coordinators, and Teachers.
Around 70 Anganwadi workers and 50 schoolgirls participated enthusiastically in the awareness programme. Ms. Julia Mcwan, Bharuch District Coordinator, and Ms. Sesil Isai, Gujarat State Program Coordinator, explained the key aspects of clubfoot in a simple and accessible manner. Participants learned how to recognize clubfoot, why early identification matters, what timely treatment involves, and how appropriate intervention can help children achieve better mobility and participate more fully in everyday life.
Clubfoot is treatable, and early detection can change a child’s life. Creating awareness among frontline workers, educators, students, and communities is therefore an important step toward ensuring that children are identified early and connected to the care they need.
