Beyond the Cast: Why the Foot Abduction Brace is the Bridge to a Future Without Disability.

Imagine the first time a child stands up, finds their balance, and takes a tentative step toward their parents. It is a universal milestone, a moment of pure joy that defines the beginning of a life of exploration. But for thousands of families across the country, this moment is often clouded by the shadow of clubfoot—a congenital condition that, if left untreated, can lead to a lifetime of physical and social barriers.
At CURE India, we believe that every child, regardless of their financial background, deserves the chance to take that first step with confidence. While the medical journey begins with expert care and casting, the final bridge to a permanent cure lies in a simple yet life-changing device: the Foot Abduction Brace (FAB).
The global gold standard for treating clubfoot is the Ponseti method. This non-surgical approach uses a series of gentle manipulations and plaster casts to gradually correct the foot's position. However, once the casts come off, the work isn't finished. Because a child’s feet grow so rapidly, there is a high risk of the foot "relapsing" or turning back inward.
This is where the FAB becomes a lifeline. By wearing these specialized braces, the corrected position is maintained, allowing the bones and muscles to grow correctly. Without the brace, the initial treatment is at risk. With it, the child is guaranteed a lifetime of mobility.
Many compassionate families and CSR partners are already joining hands with us to turn this hope into reality. Yet, for many underprivileged families, even this essential support remains out of reach. When you choose to support this mission, you aren't just buying a medical device; you are sponsoring a child's ability to walk, run, and dream without limits.
When you choose to make a donation, you want to know that your contribution is creating the maximum possible social impact. CURE India is recognized as one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, a distinction we hold with immense responsibility. Our national presence spans across every state, making us the largest clubfoot program in the world.
We take pride in our credibility and the absolute transparency of fund usage. Having overseen the most number of clubfoot children treated in medical history, our model is built on efficiency and clinical excellence. We work hand-in-hand with government hospitals and medical professionals to ensure that high-quality, free treatment is accessible to the most vulnerable members of society.
Our mission is driven by a clear, data-backed goal. Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. While this is a monumental achievement, we know that thousands more are still waiting for help.
Through our RunFree2030 initiative, we are aggressively scaling our operations to reach 70% of children in the next 5 years. To achieve this, we need to ensure that every child who completes their casting phase has immediate access to a Foot Abduction Brace. Your sponsorship bridges the gap between a successful medical procedure and a permanent, lifelong cure.
“No child should be denied the chance to walk due to a lack of resources," says Dr. Santhosh George, Director of CURE India. "A small act of support today can change the entire future of a child tomorrow.”
By sponsoring a brace, you become a partner in a child’s first steps. You are telling a mother that her child’s future is bright. You are telling a father that his child will go to school just like any other.
