A Future Without Disability: Empowering 62 Doctors in Chhattisgarh to Ensure No Child is Left Behind by Clubfoot

The journey toward a disability-free India reached a new milestone this month. On the frontlines of pediatric orthopaedic care, CURE India, in collaboration with AIIMS Raipur, successfully conducted the 163rd Training Program on the Ponseti Method of Clubfoot Management. This intensive session brought together 62 dedicated doctors from every single district of Chhattisgarh, creating a localized network of expertise that will change the trajectory of thousands of young lives.
The focus of the training was the Ponseti method—the globally recognized, non-surgical gold standard for clubfoot correction. For many of the participating medical professionals, this was a deep dive into the nuances of gentle manipulation and precise casting.
What sets CURE India’s training apart is the integration of hands-on clinical exposure. During this session, six children received their corrective casts under expert supervision. This direct interaction allowed doctors to witness the immediate hope that professional intervention brings to families. By observing the exact application of the Ponseti method, these 62 doctors are now equipped to return to their respective districts and provide high-quality, free treatment to those who need it most.
As the largest clubfoot program in the world, CURE India has consistently demonstrated its credibility and social impact. Currently recognized as one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, our organization operates with an unwavering commitment to transparency of fund usage. Every donation we receive is a direct investment in a child’s ability to walk, run, and attend school.
Our national presence is our greatest strength. From the heights of the Himalayas to the plains of Chhattisgarh, CURE India is working in every state of the country. To date, we have treated the most number of clubfoot children globally, but our work is far from finished.
The urgency of our mission cannot be overstated. Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. While this is a significant achievement, our vision—RunFree2030—is much bolder. We are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years.
To achieve this, we rely on a holistic model of care. This includes:
This success in Raipur was made possible through a collaborative spirit. We extend our sincere appreciation to the distinguished faculty: Dr. Mathew Verghese, Dr. Arkesh M., and Dr. Alok Chandra Agrawal. Their expert guidance ensures that the quality of care remains world-class. We also thank our Director, Dr. Santhosh George, and Dr. Atula for their visionary leadership, as well as Dr. V. R. Bhagat (Deputy Director, RBSK Chhattisgarh) and Dr. Sangeeta Patanwar for their seamless coordination.
Every step toward a clubfoot-free India requires a community of supporters. Whether you are a medical professional looking to expand your skills, a student looking to volunteer, or a donor looking to create lasting change, there is a place for you at CURE India.
Your contribution ensures that the 150+ children born with clubfoot every day in India do not have to live a life of preventable disability. Your donation provides the casts, the braces, and the clinical support that make "walking freely" a reality.
Join us in our mission to reach every child.
