From Classrooms to Community Hubs: Strengthening the First Line of Defense Against Clubfoot Disability in Mandla

In the heart of Madhya Pradesh, within the quiet corridors of schools and the bustling energy of Anganwadi centers, a life-changing movement is taking shape. At CURE India, we know that the battle against disability isn't just fought in sterile operating rooms; it begins with a conversation in the community.
Recently, our dedicated District Program Coordinator (DPC), Ms. Gyaneshwari Dharya, led a series of vital awareness visits in Mandla. By engaging with the Ekikrit Government Middle School and the Anganwadi Kendra at Rajiv Colony, CURE India is ensuring that the path to a "Clubfoot-Free India" is paved with knowledge and early intervention.
As one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, CURE India (or simply CURE) remains steadfast in its mission to reach the most underserved families, transforming the way the country perceives and treats Clubfoot.
Why start in schools and Anganwadis? Because teachers and Anganwadi workers are the true sentinels of child health. They are often the first to notice if a child is struggling with mobility or if a newborn has the characteristic inward-turning feet of clubfoot.
The visit in Mandla focused on three pillars:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Madhu Varma (Principal) and Ms. Rashmi Tiwari (Teacher) for their incredible support, as well as the dedicated Anganwadi staff. It is this collaboration between a Top 10 NGO in the country and local institutions that creates a sustainable social impact.
For many families in Mandla, a clubfoot diagnosis can feel like a heavy burden. CURE India lifts that burden by providing Free Treatment through the Ponseti method. This non-surgical gold standard involves:
Because of our national presence, we are able to provide these high-quality FAB braces and clinical expertise to children in even the most remote districts of Madhya Pradesh.
CURE India is proud to manage the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children treated globally. However, our eyes are fixed on a more ambitious horizon.
| Milestone | Our Current Impact | The RunFree2030 Goal |
| National Coverage | Treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India | Scaling up to 70% in the next 5 years |
| Cost to Families | 100% Free Treatment | Sustained Zero-Cost Model |
| Community Reach | Active in all States & UTs | Deep Block-level saturation |
To move from 33% to 70%, we need to replicate the Mandla outreach in every district across India. Every child identified in an Anganwadi today is a child who will run, play, and attend school tomorrow.
Donors often ask what makes CURE India stand out. The answer is simple: Credibility and Transparency. Being recognized among the Top 10 NGO's in India is a result of our unwavering commitment to showing our supporters exactly how their donation changes lives.
We strive toward total transparency of fund usage. When you contribute to CURE, your funds are directly utilized for:
The success of our visit in Mandla is a reminder that when we inform a community, we empower a generation. We invite the general public, medical professionals, and corporate partners to join our RunFree2030 mission.
Together, we are making Mandla—and all of India—a place where every child can walk with confidence and dignity.
