Rooting Hope in Mandla: How CURE India’s Grassroots Outreach is Changing Lives in Madhya Pradesh

In the heart of Madhya Pradesh, within the quiet corridors of schools and the bustling energy of Anganwadi centers, a life-changing movement is taking shape. At CURE India, we know that the battle against disability isn't just fought in sterile operating rooms; it begins with a conversation in the community.

Recently, our dedicated District Program Coordinator (DPC), Ms. Gyaneshwari Dharya, led a series of vital awareness visits in Mandla. By engaging with the Ekikrit Government Middle School and the Anganwadi Kendra at Rajiv Colony, CURE India is ensuring that the path to a "Clubfoot-Free India" is paved with knowledge and early intervention.

As one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, CURE India (or simply CURE) remains steadfast in its mission to reach the most underserved families, transforming the way the country perceives and treats Clubfoot.

The Vital Role of Frontline Educators and Caregivers

Why start in schools and Anganwadis? Because teachers and Anganwadi workers are the true sentinels of child health. They are often the first to notice if a child is struggling with mobility or if a newborn has the characteristic inward-turning feet of clubfoot.

The visit in Mandla focused on three pillars:

  1. Early Identification: Teaching caregivers to spot clubfoot immediately after birth.
  2. Timely Referral: Emphasizing that the earlier the treatment begins, the more effective it is.
  3. The Promise of Healing: Assuring parents and teachers that clubfoot is 100% treatable through the Ponseti method.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Madhu Varma (Principal) and Ms. Rashmi Tiwari (Teacher) for their incredible support, as well as the dedicated Anganwadi staff. It is this collaboration between a Top 10 NGO in the country and local institutions that creates a sustainable social impact.

The Science of Mobility: The Ponseti Method and FAB

For many families in Mandla, a clubfoot diagnosis can feel like a heavy burden. CURE India lifts that burden by providing Free Treatment through the Ponseti method. This non-surgical gold standard involves:

  • Serial Casting: A sequence of gentle manipulations and plaster casts that gradually correct the foot.
  • The FAB (Foot Abduction Brace): A specialized brace that the child wears after the casting phase to ensure the foot stays in the correct position.

Because of our national presence, we are able to provide these high-quality FAB braces and clinical expertise to children in even the most remote districts of Madhya Pradesh.

Scaling the Impact: Our RunFree2030 Vision

CURE India is proud to manage the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children treated globally. However, our eyes are fixed on a more ambitious horizon.

MilestoneOur Current ImpactThe RunFree2030 Goal
National CoverageTreating 33% of children born with clubfoot in IndiaScaling up to 70% in the next 5 years
Cost to Families100% Free TreatmentSustained Zero-Cost Model
Community ReachActive in all States & UTsDeep Block-level saturation

To move from 33% to 70%, we need to replicate the Mandla outreach in every district across India. Every child identified in an Anganwadi today is a child who will run, play, and attend school tomorrow.

A Legacy of Credibility and Transparency

Donors often ask what makes CURE India stand out. The answer is simple: Credibility and Transparency. Being recognized among the Top 10 NGO's in India is a result of our unwavering commitment to showing our supporters exactly how their donation changes lives.

We strive toward total transparency of fund usage. When you contribute to CURE, your funds are directly utilized for:

  • Providing plaster for serial casting.
  • Manufacturing and distributing the FAB braces.
  • Training medical professionals and DPCs like Ms. Gyaneshwari to conduct these life-saving awareness drives.

Join the Movement Toward a Clubfoot-Free India

The success of our visit in Mandla is a reminder that when we inform a community, we empower a generation. We invite the general public, medical professionals, and corporate partners to join our RunFree2030 mission.

  1. Donation: Your financial support is the engine of our "Free Treatment" model. Every rupee helps us reach the next child. Donate to CURE India.
  2. Volunteer: We ask people to volunteer their time—whether as community advocates in their own neighborhoods or by assisting at our clinics.
  3. Raise Awareness: Use your voice. Share the message that clubfoot is treatable and that help is available for free at CURE India clinics.

Together, we are making Mandla—and all of India—a place where every child can walk with confidence and dignity.
