Rooting Hope in Gujarat: CURE India’s Grassroots Awareness Drive in Vyara

In the vibrant landscapes of Gujarat, progress is often measured by industrial growth or agricultural success. But at CURE India, we measure progress by the first steps of a child. Recently, our mission took us to Vyara, where our District Program Coordinator (DPC) led a series of vital awareness sessions. By bridging the gap between private medical institutions and local community groups, we are ensuring that the promise of a "Clubfoot-Free India" reaches every household.

As one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, CURE India (often referred to as CURE) is dedicated to a singular, life-changing goal: eradicating disability caused by clubfoot through Free Treatment and expert medical intervention.

Why Vyara Matters: A Two-Pronged Approach to Awareness

The recent outreach in Vyara was strategically designed to impact two critical groups: medical professionals and the general public.

  1. Engaging Private Healthcare: By conducting sessions at a local private hospital, CURE India is strengthening the referral network. When private practitioners are trained to recognize the early signs of clubfoot and understand the efficacy of the Ponseti method, the time between birth and the start of treatment is drastically reduced.
  2. Empowering Women at Mahila Krushi Kendra: Women are often the primary caregivers and the first to notice a child’s health needs. By engaging with the Mahila Krushi Kendra, we are turning community leaders into advocates. These women are now equipped to identify clubfoot in their villages and guide families toward the help they need.

The Science of Healing: The Ponseti Method

The core of our clinical work is the Ponseti method, the globally recognized non-surgical gold standard for clubfoot correction. This treatment is highly effective when started early, involving a series of gentle manipulations and plaster casts that gradually correct the position of the foot.

Once the correction is complete, the child transitions to wearing a FAB (Foot Abduction Brace). This brace is essential to prevent the foot from returning to its original position. At CURE India, we take pride in providing these services and braces as Free Treatment, ensuring that no child remains disabled because of a family's financial constraints.

Scaling Social Impact: The RunFree2030 Vision

CURE India is proud to manage the largest clubfoot program in the world, with a record for the most number of clubfoot children treated globally. Our national presence allows us to implement high-quality care across diverse regions, from the urban centers of Delhi to the rural blocks of Gujarat.

  • Our Current Reach: We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India.
  • Our 5-Year Goal: Through our RunFree2030 initiative, we are scaling up to 70% coverage in the next 5 years.

Every awareness session in Vyara is a building block for this ambitious goal. By increasing early identification, we increase the number of successful corrections, moving us closer to a future where no child in India is left behind.

Credibility and Your Role in the Mission

Being recognized as one of the Top 10 NGO's in the country is a testament to our credibility and the tangible social impact we create every day. We understand that our donors value transparency. Therefore, we strive toward absolute transparency of fund usage, ensuring that every donation is utilized effectively to provide medical supplies, training, and outreach.

We invite you to join this movement:

  • Donation: Your financial support is the lifeblood of our clinics. It funds the casts, the braces, and the travel for our coordinators to reach remote areas like Vyara. Support our mission here.
  • Volunteer: We ask people to volunteer their time to help us with community mapping and awareness drives. Your voice can be the reason a child receives treatment on time.
  • Advocate: Share the news that clubfoot is treatable and that CURE India provides help for free.

We extend our sincere thanks to the management of the private hospital and the Mahila Krushi Kendra in Vyara. Their commitment to child health is what makes our work possible. Together, we are building a world where every step a child takes is a step toward a brighter, more mobile future.
