Reaching Every Family: CURE India’s Awareness Program at the Ambaji Mela in Gujarat

Our mission to ensure every child born with clubfoot receives life-changing care drives our teams to meet families where they are. Recently, our dedicated CURE India team members in Gujarat exemplified this commitment by conducting a powerful public awareness program at the Ambaji Mela Camp in Himmatnagar. The Ambaji Mela, a vibrant gathering that draws pilgrims and community members from surrounding towns and remote villages, provided a crucial platform for our outreach. By engaging directly with the public, our team was able to spread vital knowledge about clubfoot and the transformative possibilities of its treatment, ensuring that geographical barriers do not prevent access to care. This effort is a clear demonstration of our belief that every single conversation brings us closer to ensuring that no child grows up with the burden of untreated clubfoot.

These grassroots awareness camps are essential for two main reasons: early detection and education. For families in remote areas, a mela camp may be the first time they encounter information about the simple, non-surgical Ponseti method—the globally recognized gold standard for clubfoot treatment. The team was able to share detailed, practical information on how to identify the condition and, more importantly, how and where to access free treatment at one of our nearby CURE Clinics. This Gujarat Clubfoot Awareness initiative is a vital component of our strategy, as it tackles misinformation and instills the confidence and hope necessary for parents to seek immediate care. This dedicated, community-level work is critical to our holistic approach to social impact.

This local initiative is powerfully linked to our vast national mission. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have treated the most number of clubfoot children, and our success is built on a foundation of unshakeable credibility. We are deeply honored to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India, a distinction that speaks directly to our unwavering commitment to the transparency of fund usage. Your generous donation directly funds these awareness camps and clinics, which form part of our extensive national presence network. The trust placed in CURE India is what allows us to confidently approach communities and governments, knowing that every resource is used effectively to transform lives.

Our work is driven by an urgent and inspiring vision. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. However, our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. Every successful awareness drive, every family reached at the Ambaji Mela, is a direct and necessary step toward achieving this national target. We are building a future where every child can walk with confidence and dignity. We invite the general public, medical professionals, and donors to partner with us in this vital mission. Your financial gift, or the dedication of your time to volunteer, provides the necessary fuel to expand our reach.

Together, let’s ensure that every child born with clubfoot can experience the joy of walking free.
