Reaching Every Child: CURE India Spreads Clubfoot Awareness in Odisha's Anganwadi Centres

The success of CURE India's mission lies in reaching families at the grassroots level, often through the help of local community health workers. This commitment was recently demonstrated in Koraput, Odisha, where our dedicated team member, Ms. Sasmita Jena (DPC, Koraput), visited the Tolo Mangra and Upar Mangra Anganwadi Centres to spread awareness about clubfoot among the vital Anganwadi workers.

Anganwadi workers are trusted figures in rural communities, making them essential partners in our effort to ensure early detection of clubfoot. At the Tolo Mangra centre, Ms. Jena seized the opportunity to interact with 10–12 children and, crucially, educated the workers on how prompt identification and treatment through the non-surgical Ponseti method can help children born with clubfoot walk normally. Similarly, at Upar Mangra, she engaged the Anganwadi worker directly, sharing vital information on how to identify and refer children with clubfoot for free treatment.

Every conversation counts. These direct interactions are fundamental to CURE India's strategy for achieving widespread social impact. By empowering Anganwadi workers, we build a strong network of informed frontline workers who can connect vulnerable families with the life-changing care they need.

As the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children, our national presence is continually strengthened by efforts like this in remote areas. Our credibility as one of the Top 10 NGO's in the country is validated by our tireless work on the ground and our strict transparency of fund usage. Your donation supports these essential outreach programs, turning awareness into action.

We are dedicated to moving beyond treating the current 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. Our ambitious RunFree2030 vision is focused on scaling up to reach 70% of these children in the next 5 years.

Join us in ensuring that no child is left behind because of clubfoot. Support our team’s vital work by making a donation or becoming a volunteer today at cure.org.in/donate.
