Leading the Dialogue: CURE India Empowers Orthopaedic Surgeons at the 70th Annual National Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association

CURE India was honored to participate in the Platinum Jubilee Conference—IOACON 2025. Held in the culturally vibrant city of Guwahati, the "Gateway to the Seven Sisters," this 70th Annual National Conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association served as a landmark platform for innovation, knowledge sharing, and the advancement of surgical and non-surgical care in India.
For an organization dedicated to eradicating disability caused by clubfoot, IOACON represents a critical opportunity to engage with the brightest minds in the medical fraternity. Our presence there was not just as observers, but as leaders in the field of pediatric orthopaedic management.
A primary highlight of our participation was the specialized Clubfoot Workshop. One of our expert team members delivered a comprehensive lecture on the clinical intricacies of clubfoot and its lifelong impact if left untreated. This was followed by a live demonstration of corrective casting using the Ponseti method.
The Ponseti method is the globally recognized, non-surgical gold standard for treating clubfoot. By demonstrating the precise manipulation and casting techniques to a room full of surgeons and medical students, CURE India is actively capacity building within the Indian healthcare system. We believe that by teaching these skills, we ensure that the quality of care remains high, regardless of where a child is born.
Following the casting phase, our team emphasized the critical role of the FAB (Foot Abduction Brace). The brace is essential for maintaining the correction achieved through casts, ensuring that families have the tools necessary to prevent relapse and secure a future of total mobility for their children.
Our participation in national conferences like IOACON is fueled by our status as the largest clubfoot program in the world. To date, CURE India has treated the most number of clubfoot children globally. This scale is made possible through our extensive national presence, with clinics operating in partnership with government hospitals in every state of the country.
However, the numbers tell a story of both achievement and urgent need:
This ambitious leap is not just a target; it is a necessity. Every child born with clubfoot who does not receive treatment faces a life of physical pain, social stigma, and limited economic opportunity. By providing Free Treatment, we remove the single greatest barrier to care for impoverished families.
CURE India is recognized among the Top 10 NGO's in India. This recognition is a testament to our credibility and our unwavering commitment to the transparency of fund usage. When you choose to support CURE, you are joining a movement that is professional, evidence-based, and deeply empathetic.
We strive to ensure that every donation is utilized effectively to provide the casts, braces, and clinical support required to transform a child's life. Our social impact is measured in the thousands of "first steps" taken by children who were once unable to walk.
The success of our presentation at IOACON 2025 reminds us that the fight against clubfoot is a collective effort involving medical professionals, donors, and the general public.
Together, we can ensure that every child in India can walk, run, and thrive.
