Early Identification is Key: Bastar Anganwadi Awareness Empowers Caregivers for a Clubfoot-Free Chhattisgarh

The journey toward a Clubfoot-Free India is powered by dedicated grassroots education, and CURE India recently took a vital step in Chhattisgarh. Our team member, District Program Coordinator Ms. Elishiba Kashyap, conducted a crucial Awareness Visit on Clubfoot at an Anganwadi Centre in Lohndiguda, District Bastar. This focus on Anganwadis ensures that the message of hope and healing reaches the most important frontline workers and community members.
The session's core purpose was to eliminate the pervasive unawareness surrounding clubfoot. Caregivers and community members learned that this is a treatable congenital condition that can be fully corrected with timely intervention. Ms. Kashyap effectively demonstrated that early identification and treatment using the non-surgical Ponseti Method are critical to ensuring every child can walk, run, and play without limitations! This knowledge transfer is essential for boosting Child Health outcomes in Bastar and ensuring that Every Step Matters in a child’s development.
The Anganwadi is a perfect platform for this outreach, as its workers are often the first to notice developmental differences in young children, making them invaluable partners in our Early Intervention strategy.
This consistent, on-the-ground work in communities like Lohndiguda is the foundation of CURE India's credibility and vast social impact.
Despite this progress, the need for support remains urgent. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. Our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up to 70% in the next 5 years. Achieving this requires constant mobilization of resources to empower dedicated DPCs like Ms. Kashyap and sustain the provision of free treatment to all families.
Let’s continue spreading awareness so that no child is left untreated due to a lack of information. Together, we can make every step count.
