From Academia to Action: Kerala's Master of Social Work Students Visit CURE India National Office to Explore Real-World Impact

The CURE India National Office recently buzzed with energy and enthusiasm, hosting a warm visit from the next generation of social innovators. We had the distinct pleasure of welcoming 30 enthusiastic Master of Social Work (MSW) students and two faculty members from BCM College, Kottayam, Kerala. This visit, part of their educational tour to Delhi, was a meaningful opportunity to connect academic learning with the profound realities of social impact.
The group spent time exploring the impactful work being done by CURE India and the six other organisations under the collaborative WE10 initiative. The students’ passion for social change and their eagerness to understand the mechanisms behind nationwide transformation were truly inspiring to our team.
We shared our commitment to eradicating clubfoot as a cause of lifelong disability in India. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children, we highlighted how the Ponseti method provides free treatment and restores mobility to thousands of families. The students learned how CURE India’s expansive national presence and dedication to capacity building are key to scaling our efforts.
The faculty members expressed deep appreciation for CURE India's widespread efforts and, significantly, expressed their interest in sending more students for internships. This kind of partnership is invaluable, as it helps shape compassionate leaders of tomorrow and builds vital bridges between theory and practice, ensuring sustained youth for change.
This wonderful exchange of ideas and energy is a testament to the belief that collective action is the key to transforming society. Our credibility as one of the Top 10 NGO's in the country is continuously affirmed by the interest of esteemed institutions like BCM College. Our commitment to transparency of fund usage ensures that every donation supports not only the treatment of children but also educational initiatives like these that secure a brighter future for the entire nation.
As we strive towards our RunFree2030 vision—scaling up to treat 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years—we rely on the energy and dedication of future volunteers and social workers. Join us in our mission by making a donation today at cure.org.in/donate.
