Innovation at the Heart of Inclusion: CURE India at the Purple Fest, Rashtrapati Bhavan

On March 13, 2026, the historic grounds of Rashtrapati Bhavan became a beacon of hope and a stage for celebrating the extraordinary talents of the Divyangjan community. CURE India was deeply honored to actively participate in the Purple Fest, an event organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI. The festival was a profound reminder that inclusion is not just a policy—it is a collective commitment to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their physical challenges, has the opportunity to walk, learn, and lead with dignity.

Our director, Dr. Santhosh George, visited the CURE India stall during the festivities, engaging with our dedicated team and volunteers. His visit underscored the passion that drives our mission: ensuring that children with disabilities receive the timely care, support, and technological interventions they need to thrive in a modern India.

Breaking Barriers through Technology: Introducing AXI

At Purple Fest, CURE India was proud to showcase AXI (Accessibility Information Tower), a groundbreaking specialized assistive technology tool. AXI was developed with the specific goal of making art and complex information accessible to individuals with visual challenges. By utilizing NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, AXI enables interactive audio descriptions of artwork, ensuring that the beauty of our culture and the depth of our information are available to everyone. At CURE, we believe that innovation and accessibility must go hand in hand to create a truly equitable society.

In addition to our technological showcases, our initiative Children in India represented its vital mission of mainstreaming children with special needs. By focusing on inclusive learning environments and education, we are working to ensure that every child—no matter their starting point—has the resources to grow and contribute to our nation’s journey toward a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The Medical Foundation: Excellence in Clubfoot Care

While we innovate for accessibility, our core mission remains the eradication of disability caused by clubfoot. This condition, if left untreated, can lead to a lifetime of physical and social exclusion. However, through the Ponseti method—the globally recognized, non-surgical gold standard of care—we can achieve full correction in over 95% of cases.

The journey to mobility involves a series of gentle manipulations and corrective plaster casts, followed by a vital maintenance phase using the FAB (Foot Abduction Brace). The FAB is essential to prevent relapse, and CURE India ensures that this world-class medical journey, including the braces and clinical care, is provided as Free Treatment to all families in need.

A Legacy of Credibility and Social Impact

As the largest clubfoot program in the world, CURE India has achieved the distinction of having the most number of clubfoot children treated globally. Our commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate care has earned us a place among the Top 10 NGO's in India/in the country. For our donors and supporters, we maintain an unwavering standard for the transparency of fund usage and credibility. We believe that every Donation is a sacred trust placed in us to create a lasting social impact. By operating over 460 clinics in partnership with government health systems, we ensure that our national presence directly translates to localized healing.

The Vision: RunFree2030

Our journey toward a clubfoot-free nation is guided by the ambitious and urgent RunFree2030 mission. While we celebrate the fact that CURE India is currently treating 33% of all children born with clubfoot in India, we are acutely aware of the thousands of children who still lack access to care. To bridge this gap, we are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years. This expansion requires a massive mobilization of resources, from the halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan to the most remote grassroots villages. By intensifying our national presence and strengthening our partnerships with the government and the general public, we are working toward a future where no child is left behind due to a lack of resources or awareness, ensuring that every infant born with this condition has an equal opportunity to stand tall and walk free by the end of the decade.

How You Can Be the Change

The concluding ceremony at Purple Fest was graced by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who reminded us that Divyangjan are equal partners in our nation’s progress. You can help us honor that vision:

  • Make a Life-Changing Donation: Your support directly funds the medical supplies, the FAB braces, and the innovative technology like AXI that empower children. Donate now at: cure.org.in/donate.
  • Volunteer Your Skills: Whether in technology, healthcare, or community outreach, your time is a valuable Donation to our mission.
  • Watch and Share: See our team in action at Purple Fest by watching our latest video: https://lnkd.in/g47ak5v3.

The stories of determination and talent we witnessed at Rashtrapati Bhavan inspire us to work harder every day. Together, let’s ensure that every child’s future is defined by their potential, not by a treatable disability.

Together, we make hope walk.
