From Anganwadi to Action: Empowering Frontline Workers in Odisha to Eradicate Childhood Disability.

Can one awareness session change the future of a child born with clubfoot? Absolutely. In rural and semi-urban communities, early awareness is often the single determining factor between a lifetime of unaddressed physical limitation and a future of active, unhindered mobility.
Recently, our District Program Coordinator (DPC), Ms. Shweta Shilpa Sahu, demonstrated this truth firsthand by leading a comprehensive series of Clubfoot Awareness Sessions across Bargarh, Odisha.
Reaching families early requires embedding education within the existing community health infrastructure. Ms. Sahu visited four key community hubs:
During these interactive sessions, Anganwadi workers—who serve as the eyes and ears of rural healthcare—were trained on the critical signs of congenital clubfoot and other developmental delays.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff and participants at all four Anganwadi Centres in Bargarh for their warm hospitality, eager participation, and unwavering commitment to child health. Special appreciation goes to Ms. Shweta Shilpa Sahu for her tireless fieldwork, which turns regional outreach into tangible hope for families across Odisha.
As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India manages the largest clubfoot program in the world. Our grassroots efforts are anchored by strict institutional credibility and absolute transparency of fund usage, ensuring every contribution maximizes local impact as we march toward our national goal: treating 70% of all children born with clubfoot in India by 2030 (#RunFree2030).
"Together, we continue to build awareness, strengthen referrals, and move closer to a Clubfoot-Free India."
Grassroots awareness sparks the journey, but community support sustains it.
Together, we are ensuring that no child is left behind because of a treatable condition.
