Horizon for Mobility: CURE India Expands Footprint in Pune

For a parent, the first steps of a child are a milestone of pure joy. But for families whose children are born with Clubfoot, that milestone often feels like an impossible dream. At CURE India, we are on a mission to turn that dream into a reality for every child in the country. Today, we are thrilled to announce a major step forward in our national presence with the opening of a brand-new, dedicated Clubfoot Clinic in Pune.

As one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, CURE India (or simply CURE) continues to lead the largest clubfoot program in the world. Our expansion into Talegaon Dabhade is more than just a new location—it is a promise of Free Treatment, expert care, and a life without disability for the children of Maharashtra.

A Landmark Collaboration in Talegaon

The inauguration of the Clubfoot Clinic at MIMER Medical Hospital, Talegaon, marks a significant milestone in our efforts to decentralize specialized care. The ceremony was a beautiful gathering of medical leadership and community champions. The ribbon was jointly cut by Dr. Darpan Mahasghauri, Mrs. Rashmi Thorat (President of Inner Wheel), and Ms. Vipulata Agale, our State Program Coordinator at CURE India.

We were honored by the presence of Dr. Santosh Borkar, Head of Department – Orthopaedics, and a team of dedicated doctors including Dr. Suraj Doshi, Dr. Raju Munde, and Dr. Vishal Kadam. This collaboration between a premier medical institution like MIMER and a Top 10 NGO in the country ensures that the social impact we create is both high-quality and sustainable.

Starting next week, the clinic will operate every Tuesday, providing a structured environment where children can receive the gold-standard Ponseti method of treatment.

The Science of a Step: The Ponseti Method

What happens inside a CURE clinic? We utilize the Ponseti method, a non-surgical approach that has revolutionized the treatment of clubfoot globally.

The process involves:

  1. Gentle Manipulation: Carefully stretching the foot into the correct position.
  2. Serial Casting: Applying a series of plaster casts over several weeks to gradually correct the deformity.
  3. The FAB Brace: After the correction is achieved, the child wears a FAB (Foot Abduction Brace) to ensure the foot stays in the correct position as they grow.

Because of the generous support of our donors, this entire life-changing process is provided as Free Treatment. We believe that no child should be sidelined from life because their family cannot afford a brace or a cast.

Our Vision: From 33% to 70%

CURE India currently holds the record for the most number of clubfoot children treated globally. However, we refuse to rest on our laurels. Currently, we are treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. While this is a massive achievement, thousands of children still lack access to care.

Through our RunFree2030 initiative, we are scaling up to 70% in the next 5 years. To reach this target, we are aggressively expanding our clinic network and strengthening our community outreach. The new clinic at MIMER Hospital is a vital piece of this puzzle, ensuring that structured care is available right where it is needed most.

Why Your Trust Matters: Credibility and Transparency

In a landscape of many organizations, CURE India stands out because of our credibility. Being recognized among the Top 10 NGO's in India is a responsibility we take seriously. We strive toward total transparency of fund usage, ensuring that every donation is funneled directly into clinical care, medical supplies, and training for medical professionals.

When you support CURE, you aren't just giving money; you are providing the plaster for a cast, the metal for a FAB brace, and the expertise of a counselor who guides a worried mother through the treatment process.

Join the Movement

The inauguration in Pune is a celebration of what happens when the general public, medical institutions, and NGOs work together. We need your help to keep this momentum going:

  • Donation: Your financial support is what makes "Free Treatment" possible. Donate here to change a life.
  • Volunteer: We ask people to volunteer their time—whether as a medical professional, a student intern, or a community advocate.
  • Raise Awareness: If you know a family struggling with clubfoot, tell them about the clinic at MIMER Hospital or our national network.

Together, we are making history. One foot, one child, and one clinic at a time, we are walking toward a RunFree2030.
