Grassroots to Global: CURE India's Field Visit in Koraput, Odisha, Drives Early Clubfoot Intervention

The path toward a ClubfootFreeIndia is paved by dedicated action at the grassroots level. Recently, the CURE India team embarked on a crucial FieldVisit to Koraput, Odisha, engaging directly with frontline workers in two key locations: the Bagraguda and Rudhiambo Anganwadi Centres. This focused effort was aimed at spreading vital ClubfootAwareness and systematically identifying children who require EarlyIntervention using the Ponseti method. This direct engagement with local support systems is essential for transforming the lives of vulnerable families in remote areas.

Strategic Community Engagement for Early Detection

The success of the Koraput initiative was founded on strategic partnership. Our team, led by District Program Coordinator Ms. Sasmita Jena, prioritized engaging the primary pillars of community HealthForAll:

  • Anganwadi Centres: These centers are critical hubs for maternal and child health. By directly training the Anganwadi teams, we ensure that the earliest signs of clubfoot are recognized and immediately referred.
  • Primary Healthcare: A vital meeting was held with Dr. Bandana Bagh, CHO at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Rudhiambo, to discuss the importance of timely detection and referral. Integrating our specialized free treatment protocols with the existing public health infrastructure ensures seamless patient flow and consistent care.

This targeted approach amplifies our social impact, making sure that the knowledge required for early detection is widespread and actionable.

Credibility, Urgency, and the Call for Support

This dedicated work in Odisha is a direct reflection of our organization's unwavering mission and credibility.

  • Global Leadership: CURE India is globally recognized as the largest clubfoot program in the world, having successfully treated the most number of clubfoot children. Our ability to execute these impactful FieldVisit initiatives across our massive national presence is why we are honored to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India.
  • Transparency and Trust: Our commitment to the complete transparency of fund usage assures our donors that every donation is efficiently invested in empowering dedicated field teams and ensuring free treatment reaches every child.
  • The Urgent Call: We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. Our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. This aggressive goal demands the continued expansion of these grassroots awareness and referral networks.
