Grassroots Empowerment: CURE India's Campaign in Surajpur and Surguja Puts Early Clubfoot Detection into the Hands of Community Workers

The key to a Clubfoot-Free India lies in empowering those who are closest to the families—our frontline community health workers. CURE India’s commitment to this grassroots strategy was recently demonstrated in Chhattisgarh, where our team member, Ms. Savita Yadav (DPC, Ambikapur), undertook a critical outreach mission across two key districts.
Ms. Yadav first visited Surajpur district, conducting an impactful awareness session at an Anganwadi Centre (WePlant). Following this, she met with ASHA and Anganwadi workers in Surguja district. These interactive sessions were designed to transform community workers into active partners in the fight against disability.
The core focus of these vital meetings was sharing crucial, actionable information:
This direct engagement helps overcome the twin challenges of misinformation and lack of access. By empowering these local heroes, we ensure that children in remote areas of Chhattisgarh receive timely care.
CURE India’s relentless efforts in states like Chhattisgarh bolster our national presence and solidify our reputation. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children, our expansive social impact is a direct result of these grassroots campaigns. We are proud of our credibility as one of the Top 10 NGO's in the country, a trust built upon the transparency of our fund usage.
The interaction with the people was truly inspiring. Every trained Anganwadi and ASHA worker brings us one step closer to our ambitious RunFree2030 goal: to scale our efforts to treat 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years.
Join us in building stronger, more informed communities where every child gets the chance to walk with confidence. You can support this vital work by making a donation or becoming a volunteer today at cure.org.in/donate.
