From Treatment to Triumph: CURE India Children Take the Field at Ambedkar Stadium

On December 15, 2025, the historic Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi witnessed a different kind of victory. It wasn’t just about the goals scored on the pitch, but the incredible journeys taken to get there. CURE India was proud to be part of the Sonalika Football Club event—an inspiring celebration of recovery, confidence, and the true meaning of inclusion.

The highlight of the day was a sight that many thought impossible just years ago: 35 children who have successfully completed clubfoot treatment confidently taking to the field. Seeing these young athletes run, kick, and compete was the ultimate proof that with early intervention and compassionate care, every child can walk, run, and play without barriers.

The Team Behind the Transformation

This meaningful event was thoughtfully organized by our dedicated team member, Ms. Mishika, with the steadfast leadership of the Delhi CURE team, including Ms. Rekha (SPC), Ms. Anamika, Ms. Lalita, Ms. Barkha, and Ms. Richa.

We were deeply privileged to have Dr. Mathew Varghese, our Honorary Medical Director, as the Chief Guest. His presence served as a powerful motivator for the families, children, and the entire CURE team. Dr. Varghese’s expertise has been instrumental in making CURE India the largest clubfoot program in the world, ensuring that the most number of clubfoot children treated globally receive world-class care right here in India.

Medical Excellence: The Ponseti Method

The children on that football field are living testimonials to the Ponseti method. This non-surgical, gold-standard treatment involves a series of gentle manipulations and plaster casts, often followed by a minor procedure and the consistent use of a FAB (Foot Abduction Brace) to prevent relapse.

Because CURE India provides Free Treatment, we remove the financial hurdles that often prevent families from seeking help. This ensures that a child's ability to play football—or simply walk to school—is never determined by their family’s bank account.

A Legacy of Trust and Transparency

As we celebrate these "CURE Champions," we recognize that our social impact is only possible through the trust of our supporters. CURE India is recognized as one of the Top 10 NGO's in India, a distinction built on years of credibility and a strict commitment to the transparency of fund usage.

When you make a Donation, you aren't just giving money; you are providing the casts, the braces, and the specialized clinical support that turns a life of disability into a life of "Treatment to Triumph."

The Goal: RunFree2030

While seeing 35 children play football is a beautiful milestone, our mission is far from complete. Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. Our national presence spans across every state, but we are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years.

This is the core of our RunFree2030 vision. To reach the thousands of children still waiting for a chance to walk, we need to expand our clinic network and deepen our community outreach.

How You Can Be Part of the Journey

The energy at Ambedkar Stadium was a reminder that we are stronger together. Whether you are a medical professional, a student, or a concerned citizen, there is a way for you to help us build a clubfoot-free India.

  • Make a Donation: Every contribution helps us provide the specialized supplies needed for the Ponseti method.
  • Volunteer Your Time: We are always looking for passionate individuals to help with awareness drives, documentation, and field activities.
  • Spread the Word: Help us inform the public that clubfoot is treatable and that free help is available at cure.org.in.

Together, we move closer to a future where no child is limited by a disability that we have the power to fix. Let’s ensure that every child has the chance to take their own "first step" toward a bright, active future.
