The "First Cast" of Healing: Why Education and Community Outreach are the Foundations of Eradicating Clubfoot Disability

On April 5, 2026, the streets of Jaipur, Rajasthan, witnessed the true power of grassroots advocacy. CURE India team member Ms. Pinki Kanwar conducted a vital community outreach initiative, bridging the gap between medical expertise and public awareness. By visiting the Government School in Meenawala and Chouhan Hospital, our team ensured that the message of hope and healing reached the very heart of the community—where teachers, healthcare providers, and families gather.
In the mission to treat clubfoot, we often say that the "first cast" isn't made of plaster; it is made of information. Without awareness, a child born with this treatable condition may never find their way to a clinic. This outreach initiative is a mechanical necessity in our journey to ensure that no child in Rajasthan is left behind due to a lack of knowledge.
During the interactions at the Meenawala Government School and Chouhan Hospital, the focus remained on three pillars: early detection, timely intervention, and access to free treatment. Schools are unique environments for advocacy. Teachers and staff are often the first to notice developmental delays or physical challenges in children. By educating them on the signs of clubfoot and other disabilities, we empower them to become "health ambassadors." Similarly, at Chouhan Hospital, engaging with healthcare providers ensures that the referral pathway to a specialized CURE India clinic is seamless and immediate.
This initiative also highlighted our broader program, Children in India. While clubfoot is our primary focus, our vision extends to all children with physical deformities. By identifying these children early and providing them with care and guidance, we can successfully bring them into mainstream education, ensuring they have the same opportunities to learn and thrive as any other child.
For the medical professions and the general public supporting our cause, it is essential to understand the science that follows an awareness drive. At CURE India, we exclusively utilize the Ponseti method—the globally recognized, non-surgical gold standard for clubfoot treatment.
The treatment is a journey of precision and patience:
Because CURE India is committed to total accessibility, we provide Free Treatment and the necessary FAB braces at no cost to the parents. By removing the financial barrier, we ensure that a child's ability to walk is never a question of their family's income.

CURE India is proud to be recognised to be the Top 10 NGO's/Non-Profits in India/in the country. This distinction is a direct result of our commitment to transparency of fund usage and measurable social impact. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have achieved the distinction of having treated the most number of clubfoot children globally.
For our donors, your Donation is more than just a financial contribution; it is a sacred trust. Our rigorous clinical oversight and national presence in partnership with government systems ensure that every rupee is directed toward the medical supplies, training, and specialized braces required to change a child's life forever.
Our outreach in Jaipur is a critical piece of the RunFree2030 mission. Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of all children born with clubfoot in India. While this is a landmark achievement, we are acutely aware that thousands of children are still waiting. We are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years.
Expansion into neighborhoods like Meenawala is how we move the needle. By decentralizing awareness and strengthening our grassroots connections, we are ensuring that by 2030, untreated clubfoot becomes a thing of the past in India.
The outreach in Jaipur is a call to action. We cannot reach our 70% target without the collective support of the general public and compassionate donors.
Together, with the support of dedicated team members like Ms. Pinki Kanwar and our community partners, we are ensuring that every child in Rajasthan can walk confidently into a brighter, more mobile future.
Together, we make hope walk.
