From Awareness to Action: Equipping Frontline Guardians in Kolkata to Secure a Mobile Future for Every Child.

In our mission to reach every child born with clubfoot, the strength of our impact is defined by the depth of our community engagement. Recently, CURE India’s District Program Coordinator, Ms. Ranita Mondal, spearheaded a critical outreach initiative across Kolkata, focusing on the pivotal role of Anganwadi and ICDS workers. These frontline workers are the first point of contact for countless families, and by empowering them with the right knowledge, we are transforming them into proactive guardians of child mobility.
The outreach sessions were strategically conducted at key centers to ensure maximum reach and engagement:
The focus of these sessions was to demystify clubfoot. Many families still view the condition as permanent or untreatable, but through the Ponseti method, we are proving that is simply not the case. By teaching these workers to recognize the physical signs at birth, we ensure that the window for early intervention remains open, preventing lifelong disability.
Frontline childcare workers are the heartbeat of our referral network. Their dedication is the difference between a child receiving Free Treatment and a child suffering from untreated deformity. The participants in these sessions were sensitized to:
As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India is built on institutional credibility and a radical transparency of fund usage. We operate the largest clubfoot program in the world, and our work in Kolkata is a testament to how we weave ourselves into the existing public health framework.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Anganwadi and ICDS teams for their enthusiastic participation. Your commitment to child health is the engine of our outreach. Together, we are building a more inclusive and compassionate future where every child can walk, run, and dream without the limitations of a treatable condition.
