From Awareness to Action: How a Collaborative Parental Education Program in Karnataka is Setting New Standards for Inclusive Child Healthcare.

On May 7th, 2026, a powerful synergy of government expertise, medical excellence, and grassroots dedication converged at Bapuji Hospital, Davanagere. CRC Davanagere (under NIEPID, DEPwD, MSJ&E, Govt. of India), in collaboration with the Bapuji Child Health Institute & Research Centre, successfully hosted a Parental Education Program that marks a significant milestone in our journey toward a #ClubfootFreeIndia.
With 104 participants—including parents, caregivers, and medical professionals—the event served as a masterclass in the philosophy that defines CURE India: that the best medicine is a combination of clinical precision and empowered families.
The cornerstone of the program was a scientific session on “Infant Stimulation Techniques for Developmental Delay,” led by Sh. E. Thamarai Selvan, Lecturer in Physiotherapy at CRC Davanagere. For parents of children facing developmental challenges, including those born with clubfoot, these home-based techniques are more than just exercises; they are a lifeline.
Early intervention is the "golden hour" of pediatric care. When parents are equipped with the skills to stimulate their child’s physical and cognitive growth at home, the trajectory of that child’s life changes forever. At CURE India, we apply this same principle of early action to the Ponseti method. By identifying clubfoot in infants and beginning serial casting immediately, we ensure that a child who might have faced a lifetime of disability can instead walk, run, and attend school with their peers.
"The success of this program, featured in the Davanagere Kannadiga newspaper, highlights a growing community consciousness. When we empower a parent, we don't just treat a child—we strengthen the entire family unit."
During the session, Smt. Sharadha, CURE India Coordinator at CRC Davanagere, provided an in-depth look at our national initiatives. This awareness is vital because, while our work happens in local clinics, our impact is global.
As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India has built a reputation for radical transparency of fund usage and unwavering credibility. We are proud to manage the largest clubfoot program in the world, ensuring that our national presence reaches the most underserved corners of the country.
| Key Pillars of Our Mission | Impact and Goals |
| Free Treatment | Removing financial barriers for every child in need. |
| Ponseti Method | Non-surgical, world-standard treatment with nearly 100% success. |
| FAB (Foot Abduction Brace) | High-quality braces to prevent relapse and ensure long-term mobility. |
| Social Impact | Treating the most number of clubfoot children in medical history. |
Our work in Davanagere is a critical piece of the RunFree2030 puzzle. Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. While this is a significant achievement, our vision is far more ambitious. We are actively scaling our operations to reach 70% of all children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years.
To achieve this, we need more than just medical equipment; we need a movement. We need donors who believe in the power of a corrected step and volunteers who are willing to help us mobilize communities and spread awareness at the grassroots level.
Every child deserves a future where they can dream freely. Your involvement ensures that no child is "left behind" due to a treatable physical disability.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Guruprasad, Dr. C.R. Banapurmath, and Dr. Muganagouda Patil for their visionary leadership. Together, we are building an India where every child can run free.
