The Power of Local Partnerships: CURE India Trains Anganwadi Sevika in Dhanbad for Critical Early Clubfoot Detection

The key to unlocking a future of mobility for every child born with clubfoot lies in effective local partnerships and timely identification. This crucial work was recently highlighted in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, where our dedicated team member, Ms. Tannu Kumari (DPC), visited the Anganwadi Centre at Bank Colony. The goal was simple but profound: to spread awareness about clubfoot—a condition that is fully treatable when identified and addressed early.
During her visit, Ms. Kumari engaged in an insightful discussion with Anganwadi Sevika Ms. Maanu Devi. Anganwadi workers are essential, trusted frontline workers who hold the power to connect vulnerable families with life-changing care. The discussion focused on three vital steps:
This interaction successfully strengthened local awareness, empowering the Anganwadi Sevika to proactively identify and guide families towards the care they need. This grassroots outreach is a core pillar of CURE India’s strategy to achieve widespread social impact. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children, our efforts in places like Dhanbad are fundamental to our national presence.
