Educating the Educators: CURE India Partners with Schools to Champion Early Clubfoot Detection

The path to a clubfoot-free India requires reaching every influential member of a child’s community—and that includes educators. Our dedicated CURE India team recently undertook a crucial mission to engage with schools, visiting Little Children Public School and Kids Public School. The goal was to share valuable information about clubfoot and other correctable childhood deformities, transforming teachers and principals into frontline advocates for child health.

In these insightful sessions, our team emphasized a key message: clubfoot is completely treatable with timely care. By empowering educators with the knowledge of early identification, we are creating a safety net for children who might otherwise miss out on life-changing intervention. Teachers, who observe children daily, are uniquely positioned to spot the subtle signs of untreated clubfoot or a child struggling with wearing their Foot Abduction Brace (FAB) after correction.

This initiative is an essential part of CURE India's strategy for achieving widespread social impact. By working with schools, we ensure that children are identified early and guided towards the non-surgical Ponseti method, provided free of charge through our program. This proactive approach gives every child the chance to walk, run, and dream freely, fostering a truly inclusive education environment.

As the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children, our efforts are continually driven by the belief that awareness is the first step toward cure. Our credibility as one of the Top 10 NGO's in the country is supported by our widespread educational efforts and our commitment to transparency of fund usage.

We are dedicated to moving closer to our ambitious RunFree2030 goal: scaling our efforts to treat 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years. Together, through partnerships with families, medical professionals, and now educators, we can ensure that every step matters.
