A public awareness session on clubfoot was successfully conducted at Community Health Centre (CHC) Kakori, creating an opportunity to connect directly with expectant mothers, new mothers, and patients with important information about early clubfoot detection and treatment.
Our team conducted one-to-one counselling with more than 100 beneficiaries at the OPD, including antenatal mothers, postnatal mothers, and general patients.
The session was led by Ms. Roopa William, Uttar Pradesh, and focused on the mission of CURE India and the availability of free clubfoot treatment at KGMU.
Participants were informed about the importance of identifying clubfoot at birth and ensuring timely referral within the first 0–2 months. Early identification and access to appropriate treatment can help children achieve better mobility and reduce the challenges associated with untreated clubfoot.
Engaging directly with pregnant women and new mothers is an important part of creating awareness around clubfoot.
By providing families with information before and around the time of birth, healthcare awareness programmes can help parents recognize possible signs of clubfoot and understand where to seek appropriate care.
The session also shared information about the clubfoot clinic schedule, helpline number, and referral pathway, helping attendees understand the next steps if a child is identified with clubfoot.
IEC (Information, Education and Communication) materials were distributed among participants to reinforce the information shared during the counselling sessions.
The awareness programme highlighted the availability of free clubfoot treatment at KGMU and encouraged families and frontline healthcare providers to ensure that children identified with clubfoot are referred for appropriate care without unnecessary delays.
Heartfelt thanks to the Medical Officer In-Charge, CHC Kakori, and the CRC Lucknow team for their continued support and collaboration in making this awareness session possible.
Reaching communities with timely and accurate health information is an important step toward ensuring that more children with clubfoot are identified early and connected with appropriate treatment.
Early detection, timely referral, and access to appropriate treatment can make a meaningful difference in a child's mobility and future.
By continuing to engage with mothers, families, healthcare professionals, and communities, we can strengthen awareness and help more children access clubfoot care at the right time.
Together, we can work toward a future where no child is held back by untreated clubfoot.
