Strengthening community awareness and empowering Anganwadi workers to help children access timely and free clubfoot treatment.

Early detection can make a life-changing difference for a child born with clubfoot. With timely identification and appropriate treatment, children with clubfoot can grow up to walk, play, and participate in everyday activities.
As part of its community outreach efforts, CURE India’s DPC, Ms. Munmun Sau Mandal, visited three Anganwadi (ICDS) centres in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal: Dhamai, Kamarda, and Ghoratolia.
During the visits, she interacted with Anganwadi workers Ms. Dipali Hazra and Ms. Madhabi Kar, discussing clubfoot, its treatment, and the importance of early identification.
Anganwadi workers play an important role in rural communities. As they are often among the first to interact with newborns and their families, they can help identify children who may have clubfoot and guide their families towards appropriate care.
The awareness sessions highlighted two important messages:
By sharing this knowledge with Anganwadi workers, CURE India aims to strengthen community-level awareness and create better pathways for early identification and referral.
Every informed Anganwadi worker can help a family take an important step towards their child's treatment. Community awareness and collaboration are essential to ensuring that no child misses the opportunity for timely care.
CURE India remains committed to reaching underserved communities, spreading awareness, and connecting children with clubfoot to free treatment.
Together, let us build a clubfoot-free tomorrow, where every child gets the opportunity to take their first steps with confidence.
