Bridging Academia and Action: Empowering Delhi’s Youth to Drive Disability Inclusion and Transform Children’s Futures.

At CURE India, we believe that the most potent force for social transformation is a combination of professional clinical care and the unbridled energy of socially conscious youth. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting a remarkable cohort of students from Jesus and Mary College (JMC), Delhi, for an immersive internship centered on public health advocacy, rehabilitation, and the mechanics of lasting social change.
The program culminated in a certificate distribution ceremony led by our Founder and Director, Dr. Santhosh George, who recognized the students for their genuine dedication to the cause of clubfoot eradication and their compassion for the families we serve.
The internship was designed to move beyond traditional classroom learning. Students were granted direct exposure to the complexities of social development initiatives, the urgency of early intervention, and the long-term impact of community-based healthcare.
Throughout their journey, the students engaged with the core mission that defines CURE India: ensuring that a birth defect does not become a lifetime of disability. By understanding the Ponseti method—the global gold standard for non-surgical clubfoot treatment—these students are now equipped to serve as ambassadors for #ClubfootFreeIndia, capable of debunking myths and guiding communities toward evidence-based healthcare.
"The energy and fresh perspectives brought by the JMC students have been invaluable. When young leaders commit to community service, they don’t just learn about the world; they actively begin to reshape it."
— Dr. Santhosh George, Founder & Director, CURE India
The contributions made by the JMC cohort play a critical role in our ambitious RunFree2030 roadmap. As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India is built on institutional credibility and strict transparency of fund usage. We currently operate the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children in medical history.
| Our Mission Pillars | Commitment to Quality |
| Early Identification | Strengthening grassroots referral networks with students and health workers. |
| Free Treatment | Ensuring that quality Ponseti care is accessible regardless of economic status. |
| Clinical Excellence | Providing high-quality FAB (Foot Abduction Braces) to prevent relapse. |
| Social Awareness | Scaling our impact from 33% to 70% coverage over the next 5 years. |
By participating in this program, JMC students have become part of a national presence that is redefining how the country handles pediatric disability. Their advocacy, digital engagement, and community interaction are the tools that will help us reach the remaining 37% of children still waiting for treatment.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the faculty and administration of Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, for fostering an environment that values experiential learning. By prioritizing internships that build empathy, leadership, and professional responsibility, JMC is molding the very leaders who will define the future of India's social sector.
To the students: your time at CURE India was more than just an internship—it was a step toward building a more inclusive society. We hope the empathy you cultivated here continues to guide your professional and personal lives.
The path to a Clubfoot-Free India is open to everyone. Whether you are a student, a professional, or a concerned citizen, your involvement makes a tangible difference:
Together, we are not just correcting feet; we are empowering an entire generation to walk, run, and dream without limitations.
