Champions of Change: Maitreyi College Students Conclude Transformative Internship with CURE India

At CURE India, we have always believed that the most sustainable social change is nurtured when academic brilliance meets deep, empathetic community service. We are thrilled to celebrate the successful internship completion of a dedicated, high-impact cohort of students from Maitreyi College, University of Delhi.

The program reached its conclusion with a certificate distribution ceremony hosted at our office, led by our Director, Dr. Santhosh George. It was a day marked not just by the formal recognition of their hard work, but by a vibrant exchange of insights on leadership, the realities of grassroots healthcare, and the enduring power of service.

Bridging the Gap: What the Interns Achieved

The Maitreyi College students didn’t just observe—they participated in the life-changing mission of CURE India. Throughout their internship, they gained hands-on exposure to the complex ecosystem of public health, focusing on:

  • Healthcare Advocacy: Learning how to effectively communicate the importance of early identification and timely intervention to diverse community groups.
  • The #RunFree2030 Vision: Deepening their understanding of our national mission to scale clubfoot treatment, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to walk, run, and live with dignity.
  • Rehabilitation Dynamics: Understanding the Ponseti method—the global gold standard for treating clubfoot without invasive surgery—and witnessing firsthand how early intervention is a gateway to a lifetime of independence.

During the feedback session, the interns shared moving reflections on how this journey shifted their understanding of social development. They moved beyond seeing "disability" as a barrier and began to see the potential for a "possibility" made real by community support and medical access.

"The dedication shown by the Maitreyi College students is a testament to the potential of our youth. They came here to learn, but they left as partners in our mission to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, can walk, run, and dream without limitations."Dr. Santhosh George, Director, CURE India

A Vision for the Decade: Scaling Impact

The contributions of these young leaders are directly aligned with our #RunFree2030 vision. Recognized as one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India maintains a massive national presence that relies on continuous innovation and institutional credibility.

  • Our Track Record: We currently operate the largest clubfoot program in the world and have documented the most number of clubfoot children treated in history.
  • Our Transparency: Our donors trust us because of our radical transparency of fund usage, ensuring that every donation flows directly into clinical care, cast supplies, and brace procurement.
  • The 5-Year Goal: We are currently treating 33% of all children born with clubfoot in India. By mobilizing energy from interns and volunteers, we are on a path to scale this to 70% within the next 5 years.

Gratitude and Looking Forward

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Principal and faculty of Maitreyi College, University of Delhi. By encouraging students to engage in experiential, socially responsible learning, you are helping build a generation of leaders who lead with empathy and act with purpose.

To our interns: the certificates you received are just a symbol of the impact you’ve already begun to make. Carry the lessons from your time here into your future careers, and know that you will always be a part of the CURE India family.
