From Clubfoot to Cultural Celebrations: CURE India Champions Honor Narali Purnima

At CURE India, we believe that a child’s journey to a fulfilling life is about more than just physical healing. It’s about giving them the freedom to participate in every aspect of their community, including their cherished cultural traditions. Today, we celebrate our little CURE Champions, Rudra Mankar and a bright young fighter from Chinmaya DM Petit Clinic, who stepped out in their beautiful traditional attire to honor the joyful festival of Narali Purnima.
Narali Purnima, or Nariyal Purnima, is a festival deeply rooted in the traditions of Maharashtra's fishing communities. Celebrated on the full moon of the Shravan month, it marks a significant moment: the end of the monsoon season and the beginning of the fishing season. On this auspicious day, offerings of coconut are made to Lord Varuna, the god of the sea, as a prayer for safety, prosperity, and smooth sailing. For our CURE Champions, this festival is a beautiful reminder that every step they take—whether into a new cast or into a cultural celebration—is a victory.
These children's journeys are a powerful testament to resilience. They have overcome the challenges of clubfoot and are now walking confidently into their dreams and their traditions. Their ability to fully participate in their cultural heritage is a direct result of the life-changing free treatment they have received. This is the social impact that fuels our mission.
CURE India operates the largest clubfoot program in the world, and our unwavering commitment to healing little feet has allowed us to treat the most number of clubfoot children globally. We are proud to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India, a distinction that highlights our steadfast credibility and our profound commitment to transparency of fund usage. The Ponseti method, which we provide free of cost, has a proven record of success, and our extensive national presence with 452 clinics ensures that this expert care is accessible to all.
We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India, but through our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative, we are determined to scale up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. This urgent goal is a mission of hope, and we can only achieve it with your partnership.
By joining us, you help ensure that more children can not only walk without limits but also step confidently into their dreams and their traditions.
