Breaking Barriers: Yadgiri Purple Fair Highlights the Urgency of Early Clubfoot Intervention

On September 24, 2025, CURE India was honored to participate in the first day of the Purple Fair at the Government Degree College in Yadgiri, Karnataka. Organized by the CRC-Davanagere (under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India) in collaboration with the District Administration, this remarkable event brought together 532 participants, numerous leading organizations (including ALIMCO, Ottobock, and Samarthanam Trust), and over 15 stalls dedicated to showcasing rehabilitation services, assistive technologies, and entrepreneurship opportunities. The event truly celebrated inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), marking a significant step toward awareness and independence in the region.
The importance of the Yadgiri Purple Fair for CURE India lies in the synergy between the fair's mission and our own. While the event focused on BreakingBarriers for those already living with disabilities, our presence highlighted the critical need for prevention. We engaged with families and community leaders, promoting the fact that clubfoot, a leading cause of childhood disability, is 100% correctable through the non-surgical Ponseti method. Our message was clear: early intervention with our globally recognized protocol and free treatment ensures that a child never has to depend on the assistive devices celebrated at the fair, achieving the ultimate form of EmpowerPwDs—full, natural mobility. This targeted outreach in centers like Yadgiri is crucial for our work.
This commitment to accessibility in areas across the nation reinforces our credibility and social impact. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have treated the most number of clubfoot children, transforming lives across our massive national presence. Our consistent alignment with government initiatives, such as the one coordinating the Purple Fair, is a testament to our ethical approach. We are immensely proud to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India, a distinction earned through our dedication to accountability and the complete transparency of fund usage. The enthusiasm and large turnout at the fair proved that every donation directly supports our ability to reach marginalized families and deliver life-changing hope.
The success of the Yadgiri Purple Fair provides us with fresh hope, but it also underscores the urgent need to expand our reach to all corners of the country. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. However, our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. This aggressive goal relies heavily on grassroots awareness drives and strategic partnerships. We invite the general public, medical professionals, and donors to partner with us. Whether through a financial donation or dedicating your time to volunteer, your support provides the essential resources needed to sustain our ClubfootAwareness campaigns and ensure that no child remains untreated simply because their family was unaware of the solution.
CURE India is proud to stand alongside organizations committed to building an inclusive society where every individual can thrive. Together, we are building a future defined by ability, not limitation.
