Celebrating Ability: CURE India at the National Purple Fair in Vijayawada

It was an immense honor for CURE International India Trust to be part of the inspiring Purple Fair, held at the Achimamba Memorial Auditorium in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. This landmark event, meticulously organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, in collaboration with the CRC & NIEPID, was a powerful celebration of ability and a strong call for greater inclusion. For CURE India, our participation was critical: we were there to engage with participants, explain our mission, and spread vital awareness about clubfoot, ensuring that no child is left behind due to a condition that is entirely treatable. Our work is the ultimate form of disability prevention, an essential step in building a society where ability is celebrated, not limited.

The atmosphere at the Purple Fair was electric with hope and determination. The event successfully showcased a wide array of activities, from cultural events and vibrant exhibitions to a job fair, emotional success stories, aids & appliances demonstrations, and parent training sessions. This holistic approach to promoting InclusionMatters perfectly aligns with our mission. We passionately explained to attending families and stakeholders how the non-surgical Ponseti method offers free treatment and the guaranteed possibility of a completely mobile life. By partnering with government-led initiatives like this, CURE India embeds itself within the national framework for social justice, strengthening the credibility of our work and maximizing our social impact across our massive national presence.

Our continuous presence at such high-profile events is sustained by the trust of our donors and the integrity of our operations. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have treated the most number of clubfoot children and transformed countless lives. We are deeply proud to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India, a distinction earned through our relentless commitment to ethical practice and the complete transparency of fund usage. Every interaction at the Vijayawada Inclusion Fair validated the need for our services, reinforcing the value of every single donation in bringing life-changing care and preventative awareness directly to communities.

The need to integrate ClubfootAwareness into the national conversation on disability remains urgent. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. However, our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. Events like the Purple Fair are critical awareness platforms that help us identify new families in need and mobilize resources effectively. We invite the general public, medical professionals, and donors to partner with us. Whether through a financial donation or dedicating your time to volunteer, your support provides the essential resources needed to scale our mission and move closer to a truly inclusive and disability-free society.

Together, through shared compassion and collaborative action, we will continue to build a society where ability is celebrated, and every child has the opportunity to walk, run, and dream without limits.
