Overcoming Barriers: How Targeted Awareness Sessions in Chhatia Block Are Connecting Families to Free Clubfoot Treatment

It can certainly be challenging—especially in rural and semi-urban pockets where specialized medical information doesn't always travel easily. But as our teams prove every single day, persistent grassroots awareness can take us one step closer to bridging that gap entirely.

Continuing our relentless push for early intervention, our Assistant State Program Coordinator (ASPC) for Cuttack, Ms. Rashmi Rani Pal, recently visited Chhatia Block in Jajpur, Odisha, conducting a high-impact series of awareness sessions across multiple community touchpoints.

Engaging the Community Across All Levels

Reaching families before a child's condition hardens into a lifelong disability requires engaging the entire local ecosystem. Ms. Pal’s outreach spanned four key institutions:

• Chhatia Anganwadi Centre
• Solara Anganwadi Centre
• Sisubatika School, Solara
• Chhatia PHC (Primary Health Centre)

By engaging Anganwadi workers, school faculty, and frontline healthcare professionals in interactive discussions, Ms. Pal focused on the critical triad of child health: early identification, timely referral, and prompt treatment.

• The Ponseti Standard: Participants were sensitized to the signs of congenital clubfoot and educated on the Ponseti method—the globally recognized, non-surgical gold standard for correction.
• Empowering the Frontline: Equipping teachers, health workers, and local staff ensures that families receive immediate, accurate guidance right in their own neighborhoods, removing the fear and stigma often associated with developmental conditions.
• Free, Accessible Care: A core message of every session was reassurance: high-quality clubfoot treatment is provided completely free of cost through our clinical partners.
