Strengthening the Referral Chain: How Collaboration with RBSK Doctors in Tirunelveli is Ensuring No Child is Left Behind

In the southern tip of India, the city of Tirunelveli is becoming a focal point for a transformative health movement. At CURE India, we have always believed that the journey to healing begins long before a child enters our clinic—it begins with the doctors and health workers who first encounter a newborn.
Recently, our National Team Member, Mr. Andrews Angels, facilitated a significant meeting with Dr. Shamsath (ND) and Dr. Frida (OG) from the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). This interaction, which included a detailed visit to our local Clubfoot Clinic, represents the kind of strategic partnership required to ensure every child in Tamil Nadu has the chance to walk, run, and thrive.
The Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) is a critical pillar of India’s public health infrastructure, focused on early screening and intervention. When RBSK doctors like Dr. Shamsath and Dr. Frida align with CURE India, we create a seamless "safety net" for infants.
By observing our clinical operations firsthand, these dedicated medical professionals gained deeper insights into:
We are deeply grateful for their encouragement and their commitment to supporting Children in India. Partnerships like these are the primary drivers of our national presence, turning clinical excellence into community-wide impact.
The backbone of our success in Tirunelveli remains the Ponseti method. This globally recognized treatment involves a series of weekly plaster casts that gradually correct the deformity without the need for invasive, expensive surgery.
However, the correction is only half the battle. To ensure the feet do not relapse as the child grows, we provide every child with a FAB (Foot Abduction Brace). The FAB is a specialized maintenance tool that must be worn consistently during the early years of development. Because CURE India provides Free Treatment and the necessary braces, we eliminate the financial stress that often forces families to discontinue care.
As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have achieved the distinction of having the most number of clubfoot children treated globally. This scale of operation is why CURE India is recognized to be among the Top 10 NGO's/Non-Profits in India/in the country.
For our donors, medical professionals, and the general public, our status is built on a foundation of credibility and the transparency of fund usage. We understand that every Donation represents a choice to invest in a child's independence. By maintaining strong government partnerships and focusing on clinical excellence, we ensure that every rupee donated results in a measurable, life-changing impact on the ground.
Our journey toward a clubfoot-free nation is guided by the ambitious and urgent RunFree2030 mission. While we celebrate the fact that CURE India is currently treating 33% of all children born with clubfoot in India, we are acutely aware of the thousands of children who still lack access to care. To bridge this gap, we are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years. This expansion requires a massive mobilization of resources, from training more medical professionals to expanding our grassroots outreach in states like Tamil Nadu. By intensifying our national presence and strengthening our partnerships with state-led initiatives like RBSK, we are working toward a future where no child is left behind due to a lack of resources or awareness, ensuring that every infant born with this condition has an equal opportunity to stand tall and walk free by the end of the decade.
The meeting in Tirunelveli is a reminder that we are stronger together. Whether you are a donor or a concerned citizen, your involvement makes a difference.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shamsath and Dr. Frida for their time, encouragement, and commitment. Together, we are ensuring that every child’s future is defined by their potential, not by a treatable disability.
Together, we make hope walk.
