Healing with Smiles: Deep Bonds and Joy Define West Bengal Clubfoot Care at CURE India

Even when health is not at its best, the pure innocence of children becomes a medicine of its own. This truth was beautifully on display recently at our clinic in West Bengal, where little fairies made us laugh as they playfully fought to sit on the lap of our dedicated CURE India counsellor. These heartwarming glimpses are proof of the deep bonds formed between children with clubfoot and our counsellors—relationships built not just on appointments, but on trust, care, and the shared eagerness to embrace a future free from disability. This is the essence of ClubfootCare: an empathetic, holistic approach that treats the child, not just the condition.
The role of the counsellor is perhaps the most crucial non-medical pillar of our treatment success. The journey of treating clubfoot with the Ponseti method—though non-surgical and highly effective—requires dedication from families over several years. Our counsellors guide parents through the process of casting, bracing, and long-term follow-up, ensuring they understand the importance of strict adherence to the regimen. But more than clinical guidance, they provide a steady source of emotional support and hope, transforming anxiety into determination. The laughter and trust seen in our West Bengal Clubfoot Care centres are direct evidence of this commitment, reminding us that healing is not just about the medical procedure, but about love, hope, and togetherness.
This compassionate approach is the bedrock of our credibility and social impact. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have treated the most number of clubfoot children, and our success is inextricably linked to the dedication of our counsellors across our massive national presence. We are honored to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India, a distinction earned by our unwavering commitment to providing free treatment and maintaining the highest transparency of fund usage. Every single smile we witness is a direct validation of your donation and the ethical stewardship that allows us to offer both expert medical care and vital psychological support to these vulnerable families.
This profound work is driven by an urgent and inspiring goal. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. However, our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. Scaling requires not only more doctors but also more dedicated counsellors to nurture the trust and adherence that these children and families need. We invite you to be part of this transformative mission. Whether through a financial donation or dedicating your time to volunteer, your support provides the resources needed to create more moments of joy and ChildhoodSmiles across the country.
Every smile, every laugh, and every moment of joy remind us why we do what we do—because healing is not just about treatment, but about love, hope, and togetherness.
