Strengthening the System: Odisha Clubfoot Training for RBSK Doctors Boosts Early Identification

On September 8, 2025, CURE India took a vital step in strengthening healthcare partnerships by participating in the RBSK Training Meeting at the CDMO Office Campus in Barijhola, Rayagada, Odisha. With 60 participants in attendance, the session was intensely focused on empowering frontline health workers to fortify the healthcare system for the crucial early identification and subsequent treatment of children born with clubfoot. This specialized Odisha Clubfoot Training is essential because the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) network is often the very first point of contact for families in rural and underserved areas, making their awareness paramount to a child’s future mobility.
The success of the session was greatly enhanced by the encouragement and valuable time given by Dr. Mamata Rani Sahu, ADM & FW Rayagada, whose presence underscored the government's commitment to Child Health and HealthForAll. We also extend our special thanks to Ms. Sasmita Jena (DPC, SLNMCH, Koraput, Odisha) for her dedicated support in flawlessly organizing the session at the CDMO Campus, DPU Hall. By working directly with government agencies and their personnel, we ensure that our expertise on the Ponseti method—the global standard for free treatment—is integrated seamlessly into the existing public health infrastructure. This collaboration is the most effective way to eliminate untreated clubfoot across the entire state, creating significant social impact.
This local initiative in Odisha is a key component of our global mission. As the largest clubfoot program in the world, we have treated the most number of clubfoot children and transformed countless lives. Our unwavering commitment to credibility and the transparency of fund usage has earned us the recognition as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India. This robust foundation allows us to establish deep and effective partnerships like the one with RBSK, maximizing the impact of every donation across our massive national presence. When the government healthcare system is empowered with the knowledge and tools of the Ponseti method, we multiply our reach and accelerate the path to a Clubfoot-Free India.
Our work is driven by an urgent and inspiring vision. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. However, our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. Training 60 healthcare professionals in Odisha is a direct and indispensable step towards that goal. We need sustained partnership from the public and donors to support this continuous training and the expansion of our services to the most vulnerable families. Whether through a financial contribution or dedicating your time to volunteer, your support provides the essential resources needed to heal little feet. Together, we are working towards ensuring every child with clubfoot walks into a brighter future.
