Together on the Journey: How Shared Parental Support Ensures Lasting Clubfoot Correction

At CURE India, we know that the journey to a clubfoot-free life is a family affair. While mothers often become the primary caregivers, managing the day-to-day routines of their child’s treatment, a child's success is truly a result of a shared, inclusive effort from both parents. A father’s active involvement is just as vital as a mother’s, and together, their shared responsibility, encouragement, and emotional strength are crucial for the long treatment journey.
The importance of this shared parental support cannot be overstated. While a mother may handle the daily casting or brace application, a father can play a powerful supporting role by ensuring consistent brace use, attending critical clinic visits, and providing emotional encouragement. This shared commitment not only makes the process more manageable for the child but also strengthens the family bond. We have seen time and again that when both parents are actively involved, the risk of relapse is significantly reduced. This collaborative effort builds a strong, supportive environment that helps the child stay on track toward a full and lasting correction.
CURE India is the largest clubfoot program in the world, and our success is a direct result of our partnerships—not just with government and medical professionals, but with the families we serve. We provide free treatment through the gentle, non-surgical Ponseti method, but it is the parents who carry out the most important part of the care at home. This is why we are committed to empowering both parents in this mission of mobility, providing them with the necessary knowledge and emotional support to succeed.
We are incredibly proud to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India. This distinction reflects our unwavering credibility and our commitment to transparency of fund usage. Every donation you make allows us to provide this holistic care—from medical expertise to parental counseling—free of cost. We have already treated the most number of clubfoot children, making a profound social impact across the country.
We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. Our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative aims to scale up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. This vision is a race against time, a mission of hope that can only be achieved by empowering every family and every parent.
