Public Health Veteran and EngenderHealth Country Representative, Dr. Ajay Khera, Visits WE10 Office to Support a Multi-Sectoral Movement for Child Health and Sustainability.

In the landscape of Indian public health, true transformation occurs when high-level policy expertise meets grassroots innovation. Recently, the WE10 office was privileged to host a guest who embodies this synergy: Dr. Ajay Khera, the Country Representative for India at EngenderHealth and a legendary figure in maternal and child healthcare.
With over 30 years of experience, including his distinguished tenure as the Commissioner for Maternal and Child Health at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, Dr. Khera’s visit was more than a professional courtesy—it was a powerful validation of the WE10 initiative’s mission.
The WE10 Program, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Santhosh George, is a collective force for social impact. It brings together three mission-driven organizations to address the most pressing challenges facing India’s children and their environment.
During his visit, Dr. Khera interacted with the leadership and teams from all three wings:
| Organization | Core Mission Area | Impact Focus |
| CURE India | Disability Inclusion | Eradicating disability from Clubfoot via the Ponseti method. |
| Children in India | Child Welfare & Nutrition | Ensuring every child has the nutritional and social support to thrive. |
| We Plant India | Environmental Sustainability | Promoting food security and green cover through fruit tree plantation. |
Dr. Khera’s career has been defined by a relentless commitment to improving maternal and obstetric care. His insights into strengthening healthcare systems are particularly relevant to the WE10 model.
For CURE India, which manages the largest clubfoot program in the world, Dr. Khera’s perspective on child health outcomes resonates deeply. Our goal of a #ClubfootFreeIndia relies on the very healthcare system strengthening that Dr. Khera pioneered at the national level. By integrating the identification of clubfoot into the broader maternal and child health framework, we ensure that no child is missed at birth.
Similarly, his work in adolescent health and immunization aligns with the holistic "Healthier Children" pillar of the WE10 program. When we treat a child for a physical disability, we must also ensure they are nutritionally secure and living in a sustainable environment—a vision that Dr. Khera noted as a critical path forward for India.
As organizations recognized among the Top 10 NGO’s in India, the WE10 partners operate on a foundation of credibility and transparency of fund usage. Hosting a guest of Dr. Khera’s caliber reinforces our commitment to excellence.
Dr. Khera’s encouragement stems from a shared understanding that large-scale change requires national presence and clinical excellence. Whether it is providing Free Treatment for clubfoot or launching nutrition programs in underserved districts, the WE10 initiative is built to scale.
"Dr. Ajay Khera’s leadership has shaped national movements. His presence here today inspires every member of our collective family to strive for greater impact with integrity. It is through such collaborations that we will build an empowered and sustainable India."
— Dr. Santhosh George, Director, WE10 Program
The insights shared during this visit will further refine the WE10 strategy as we move toward our ambitious goals. From disability inclusion to environmental restoration, we are not just solving individual problems; we are building an ecosystem of hope.
