A Legacy of Kindness at VMMC Safdarjung Hospital: Inner Wheel District 301 Joins CURE India to Transform Lives

The corridors of VMMC Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi are often filled with the sounds of a city in motion, but inside the CURE India Clubfoot Clinic, the sounds are different. They are the sounds of focused care, the gentle reassurance of counselors, and the quiet determination of parents seeking a better life for their children.

Recently, this center of healing was graced by a visit from the esteemed members of Inner Wheel District 301. Their presence was not merely a formal visit; it was a profound moment of encouragement for our medical teams and a beacon of hope for the families we serve. When community leaders step into the clinical space, they bring more than just resources—they bring the validation that these children matter and that their future is a collective responsibility.

The Gift of Mobility: Partnerships that Power Change

During their visit, the Inner Wheel team demonstrated the true spirit of compassionate service by generously sponsoring the treatment of children born with clubfoot. This support is a critical component of our mission. While CURE India provides the infrastructure and expertise, it is the goodwill of partners like Inner Wheel that allows us to ensure that Free Treatment remains sustainable and accessible to every child in need.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Deepika Bali (District Chairman), Mrs. Jyoti (Association President), Mrs. Kay Morland (IIW President), Mrs. Archna Khandelwal (Club President), and Mrs. Anu Pachisia (Club Secretary). Their commitment to transforming young lives ensures that financial barriers never stand in the way of a child's ability to walk, run, and play.

The Gold Standard: Why the Ponseti Method is Our Blueprint

For the medical professions and the general public watching our progress, it is important to understand why the Donation from Inner Wheel is so impactful. Clubfoot is a congenital deformity that, if left untreated, leads to a lifetime of disability. However, through the Ponseti method, we can achieve full correction in over 95% of cases without the need for invasive, expensive surgeries.

This globally recognized method involves:

  • Corrective Casting: A series of gentle manipulations and weekly plaster casts.
  • Maintenance with the FAB: Once corrected, the child is fitted with a FAB (Foot Abduction Brace). This specialized brace is the most important tool for preventing relapse as the child grows.

By sponsoring these treatments, Inner Wheel is providing the high-quality casts, the specialized FAB braces, and the clinical oversight required to turn a birth defect into a distant memory.

A Legacy of Credibility: CURE’s National Presence

CURE India has achieved the distinction of being the largest clubfoot program in the world, having treated the most number of clubfoot children globally. Our success is built on a foundation of credibility and absolute transparency of fund usage. It is this commitment to excellence that has led CURE India to be recognised to be the Top 10 NGO's/Non-Profits in India/in the country.

Our national presence—operating in over 460 clinics across India—allows us to scale our impact, but it is at sites like VMMC Safdarjung Hospital where the individual impact is felt most. Every child treated is a victory for social inclusion and a testament to the power of structured, transparent philanthropy.

The Vision: RunFree2030

Our journey toward a clubfoot-free nation is guided by the ambitious and urgent RunFree2030 mission. While we celebrate the fact that CURE India is currently treating 33% of all children born with clubfoot in India, we are acutely aware of the thousands of children who still lack access to care. To bridge this gap, we are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years. This expansion requires a massive mobilization of resources, from the urban centers of Delhi to the most remote grassroots villages. By intensifying our national presence and strengthening our partnerships with government hospitals and philanthropic organizations like Inner Wheel, we are working toward a future where no child is left behind due to a lack of resources or awareness, ensuring that every infant born with this condition has an equal opportunity to stand tall and walk free by the end of the decade.

How You Can Help Make Hope Walk
