A Journey of Healing at AIIMS Delhi: Witnessing the Power of Philanthropy in Clubfoot Care

On March 20, 2026, the bustling halls of AIIMS Delhi, India’s premier medical institution, served as the backdrop for a profound encounter between generosity and clinical excellence. CURE India was honored to host a specialized donor visit at our Clubfoot Clinic within the Department of Orthopaedics. For our supporters, this wasn't just a site visit; it was a firsthand immersion into the life-changing social impact that a single Donation can create in the life of a child.

At CURE, we believe that the strongest bond between an NGO and its supporters is built on transparency and credibility. By opening our clinic doors, we allow our partners to see the precision of the Ponseti method, the resilience of the families we serve, and the unwavering dedication of the medical professionals who make mobility possible.

The AIIMS Partnership: Excellence at the Core

The success of our Delhi operations is deeply rooted in our collaboration with world-class institutions. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Venkatesan Sampath Kumar, Additional Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at AIIMS New Delhi. His willingness to interact with our donors and share his clinical insights provided an invaluable perspective on the complexity of clubfoot management.

When a donor sees a surgeon of Dr. Kumar’s caliber meticulously applying a corrective cast, the abstract concept of "charity" transforms into a tangible reality of "healing." This collaboration is a cornerstone of CURE's national presence, ensuring that the Free Treatment we provide is of the highest global standard.

The Science of a First Step: The Ponseti Method & the FAB

During the visit, donors were able to follow the journey of a child through the Ponseti method—the globally recognized, non-surgical gold standard for clubfoot treatment. This method is a marvel of "biological engineering," using a series of gentle manipulations and weekly plaster casts to correct the feet without invasive surgery.

However, as our team—led by Ms. Rekha Singh (ASPC) and Ms. Barkha Sharma (DPC)—explained, the medical journey continues long after the last cast is removed. The "maintenance phase" is where the victory is secured. Every child in our program is provided with a FAB (Foot Abduction Brace). This specialized brace is essential to prevent relapse as the child grows.

By witnessing the fitting of a FAB, our donors saw exactly where their contributions go: into high-quality medical devices that ensure a child doesn't just walk today, but remains mobile for a lifetime.

A Legacy of Credibility: CURE India’s Global Leadership

CURE India is proud to be recognised to be the Top 10 NGO's/Non-Profits in India/in the country. This distinction is not easily earned; it is the result of managing the largest clubfoot program in the world with absolute transparency of fund usage. Having achieved the distinction of the most number of clubfoot children treated globally, we understand that our donors are not just giving money—they are investing in a disability-free future for India.

Under the continued leadership of our Director, Dr. Santhosh George, CURE has built a network that spans the nation. Yet, whether we are in a rural district or at a premier center like AIIMS, the mission remains the same: transforming lives, one step at a time.

The Vision: RunFree2030

Our journey toward a clubfoot-free nation is guided by the ambitious and urgent RunFree2030 mission. Currently, CURE India is treating 33% of all children born with clubfoot in India. While this is a monumental achievement, our eyes are on the horizon. We are aggressively scaling up to reach 70% of children born with clubfoot in the next 5 years.

This expansion is a mechanical necessity. Every year, thousands of children are still born without access to specialized care. By strengthening our partnerships with government hospitals and inviting the general public to witness our work at AIIMS, we are mobilizing the resources needed to ensure that by 2030, untreated clubfoot becomes a thing of the past in India.

How You Can Help Make Hope Walk
