Celebrating the Spectrum of Ability: CRC Nellore Disability Days Event Highlights the Urgency of Early Clubfoot Care

On October 7, 2025, the atmosphere at CRC Nellore was electric with hope and unified purpose, as the center—under the administrative control of NIEPID, DEPwD, and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment—observed World Cerebral Palsy Day, World Dyslexia Day, and inaugurated Mental Health Week. CURE India was profoundly honored to stand alongside this collaborative effort. The event, graced by Shri Chandrasekhar, National Organising Secretary of Saksham, was a powerful reminder that our shared commitment to Disability Awareness is the bedrock of a truly inclusive nation. The lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing hope and empowerment, set the stage for an inspiring day dedicated to the principle that InclusionMatters.
The day celebrated the spectrum of ability, featuring inspiring words from Director Shri Manoj Kumar S.P. and the Chief Guest, who rightfully appreciated CRC Nellore’s sustained efforts in areas like inclusive education, free mid-day meals, sports, and Vocational Training. CURE India’s presence, with a specialized awareness stall for children with clubfoot alongside impactful exhibitions by partners like ALIMCO, was crucial. Our role in this ecosystem is one of proactive prevention. By highlighting the availability of the Ponseti method and free treatment, we are focused on preventing a manageable condition like clubfoot from becoming a lifelong disability that restricts a child’s participation in the very inclusive programs being celebrated. We provided essential information about early detection and rehabilitation services to the over 180 participants, including families, students, and healthcare professionals. This strategic approach ensures our ClubfootAwareness message integrates seamlessly into the national agenda for EmpowerPwDs.
This commitment to scaling awareness through institutional collaboration is what drives our organizational credibility and social impact. We are the largest clubfoot program in the world, having successfully treated the most number of clubfoot children, and our consistent alignment with government initiatives, such as the event at CRCNellore, proves our dedication to ethical, national-scale service delivery. We are immensely proud to be recognized as one of the Top 10 NGOs/Non-Profits in India, a distinction earned through our unwavering dedication to accountability and the complete transparency of fund usage. Every interaction at the CRC Nellore Disability Days event was a direct delivery of the hope made possible by our donors, strengthening our massive national presence in states like Andhra Pradesh.
Despite the inspiring progress, the task of reaching every child remains urgent. We are currently treating 33% of children born with clubfoot in India. Our ambitious RunFree2030 initiative is focused on scaling up our efforts to reach 70% of these children in the next five years. Achieving this exponential growth requires sustained support to finance the awareness campaigns, training of medical professions, and infrastructure necessary to deliver free treatment across the country. We invite all citizens and donors to become active partners in this preventative mission. Whether through a financial donation or dedicating your time to volunteer, your commitment is essential to ensuring that the next generation of children with clubfoot are not added to the disability community, but are instead empowered to thrive.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the entire CRC Nellore team—Shri Manoj Kumar S.P., Shri G. Ramanjulu, and Shri Rayapu Reddy—for organizing such an inspiring and inclusive celebration. Together, we move closer to building an inclusive society where every individual can realize their full potential.
