From Awareness to Achievement: How Early Intervention is Turning the Tide Against Clubfoot in Kerala

On World Clubfoot Day 2026, the spirit of determination and joy was palpable at the Government Medical College Hospital (GMC), Thiruvananthapuram. In a powerful demonstration of our mission to ensure no child is left untreated, healthcare professionals, supportive families, and the CURE India team gathered to celebrate the life-changing impact of the Ponseti method—the gold standard for non-surgical clubfoot correction.
The celebration was formally inaugurated by Dr. Manoj Kumar (HOD), whose commitment to pediatric orthopedic excellence provides the strong clinical foundation necessary for our program's success. Dr. Sabarisree (Clubfoot In-charge) provided an insightful address, shedding light on the critical importance of early referral and the long-term benefits of consistent, high-quality care.
We were also pleased to have the support of our national team members, including Mr. Prathap (Finance Department), along with Ms. Nimisha, Ms. Alfina, and Ms. Praseetha, whose dedication ensures that the operational backbone of our work remains strong and sustainable.
The true highlights of the day were the voices of the families themselves. Two parents shared moving, personal testimonies regarding their children’s successful treatment journeys. Their stories were a powerful reminder that:
As one of the Top 10 NGO’s in India, CURE India is built on institutional credibility and a radical transparency of fund usage. We operate the largest clubfoot program in the world, having documented the most number of clubfoot children treated in medical history.
Our work in Thiruvananthapuram is a crucial part of our national roadmap:
We extend our deepest thanks to the staff at GMC Thiruvananthapuram, our distinguished guests, and—most importantly—the parents who trust us with their children’s futures. Your commitment is the engine of our movement.
